MY COLLECTION OF RUSSIAN WATCHES...:-)

This is my collection of Russian watches. I began to collect them since 1992, and now i'm collecting them again after some year of stop (i believed that they were disappeared...instead, they are still available, new or used). This collection is already quite complete, but...stay tuned, because i will add soon some other watch! :-))  BTW: in the text, "NOS" means "new old stock", to indicate a brand-new old watch.

Two overviews of the collection

POLJOT

Dsc00283.jpg (59110 byte)

Model: Aviator Chrono

Producer/City: First Moscow Watch Factory "Poljot"-  Moscow

Year: 2002

Caliber: Poljot 3133 chrono (Valjoux-based), hand-winding, 23 jewels, seconds and minutes counters, date window

Note: the design of this watch is strongly inspired to the Fortis "Pilot Chrono".., but the Cyrillic inscriptions are unique! :-) Very nice finish. Although the inspiration to Fortis, is a watch with an own Russian character.

Dsc00286.jpg (61874 byte)

Model: Russian Aviator "Ivan Kozedub"

Producer/City: First Moscow Watch Factory "Poljot"-  Moscow

Year: 2003

Caliber: Poljot 2612 (A. Schild-based), alarm, 18 jewels, hand winding, two crowns for alarm and time

Note: dedicated to Ivan Kozedub, aviator dead in the 1991. Very massive and big (45 mm without crowns!), mineral crystal, water resistant 100M. The numbers (with Superluminova coating) are exceptionally luminous by night. Great finish, a very collectable item.

Dsc00279.jpg (61284 byte)

Model: Sturmanskie 3133 Chrono

Producer/City: First Moscow Watch Factory "Poljot"-  Moscow

Year: 1992

Caliber: Poljot 3133 chrono (Valjoux-based), hand-winding, 23 jewels, seconds and minutes counters, date window

Note: a NOS piece of a classic model by Poljot. This model was used in the Soyuz space missions. There is also a second crown for the inner bezel. Nice '70s design, quite simple finish (plastic glass and stamped caseback), but it's a very impressive watch.

Dsc00380s.jpg (109771 byte)

Model: simple black-dial model with brushed case

Producer/City: First Moscow Watch Factory "Poljot"-  Moscow

Year: 2002

Caliber: Poljot 2614, hand-winding, 17 jewels, date window

Note: brand new with box and document, it has still the tag with the price indicated in Roubles! :-)

Dsc00563.jpg (74346 byte)

Model: simple brown-dial model with chromed case

Producer/City: First Moscow Watch Factory "Poljot"-  Moscow

Year: years '70s

Caliber: Poljot 2614, hand-winding, 17 jewels, date window

Note: it's substantially a vintage watch, with traces of usage (little crack on the glass), but it works perfectly :-) Caseback is screwed. A classic example of design of the Seventies.

Producer/City: Chistopolsky Watch Factory "Vostok" - Chistopol

Year: 1989

Caliber: 2414, 17 jewels, hand-winding, date window, anti-shock balance

Producer/City: Chistopolsky Watch Factory "Vostok" - Chistopol

Year: late '80s

Producer/City: Chistopolsky Watch Factory "Vostok" - Chistopol

Year: late '80s

Caliber: 2409, 17 jewels, automatic, hand winding, anti-shock balance, antimagnetic protection

Note: very rare model. The four red sectors on the dial indicates the time of the radio nautical bulletin. Bought from Poland, a kick of luck! :-)

DSC00228.JPG (64558 byte)

Model: Komandirskie/Amphibia Antimagnetic U-boot (black/blue dial)

Producer/City: Chistopolsky Watch Factory "Vostok" - Chistopol

Producer/City: Chistopolsky Watch Factory "Vostok" - Chistopol

Year: 1993

Note: another NOS Amphibia, bought with the previous model.

DSC00269.JPG (64046 byte)

Model: Komandirskie Paratrooper Automatic

Producer/City: Chistopolsky Watch Factory "Vostok" - Chistopol

Year: 2001

Caliber: 2416B, 31 jewels, automatic, date window, anti-shock balance

Note: one of the recent post-Soviet automatic Vostoks. Unfortunately with some little defect (a bit low power reserve, and sometime stops after setting the hands). However, it keeps reliable time.

DSC00268.JPG (63536 byte)

Model: Amphibia U-Boot

Producer/City: Chistopolsky Watch Factory "Vostok" - Chistopol

Year: 2001

Caliber: originally 2416B automatic, replaced with a 2414 hand winding and with Komandirskie's pointers

Note: the previous automatic movement is gone, and i replaced it with a good, old hand-winding movement...

Dsc00289.jpg (63502 byte)

Model: Komandirskie KGB Automatic

Producer/City: Chistopolsky Watch Factory "Vostok" - Chistopol

Year: 2001

Caliber: 2416B, 31 jewels, automatic, date window, anti-shock balance

Note: this new automatic works good, but the finish (as on all the post-Soviet Vostoks) has some lack in the chrome.

Dsc00284.jpg (66676 byte)

Model: Komandirskie Sea Hunter Automatic

Producer/City: Chistopolsky Watch Factory "Vostok" - Chistopol

Year: 2001

Caliber: 2416B, 31 jewels, automatic, date window, anti-shock balance

Note: as the two previous watches, this was bought at the flea market in Bari. Smooth winding action, very reliable: not common for a recent automatic Vostok... ;-)

rDsc00246.jpg (63480 byte)

Model: Generalskie "Rising Star" (export version)

Producer/City: Chistopolsky Watch Factory "Vostok" - Chistopol

Year: 1992

Caliber: 2416B (first version), 21 jewels, automatic, date window, anti-shock balance

Note: the first version of the automatic Vostok (only 21 jewels), export version. No comparisons with the new ones: extremely smooth crown, perfect and reliable behavior. Bought from an Italian seller, NOS with box and documents.

DSC00272.JPG (54846 byte)

Model: Komandirskie with crown at 4 'o clock and integrated bracelet

Producer/City: Chistopolsky Watch Factory "Vostok" - Chistopol

Year: late '80s

Caliber: 2414, 17 jewels, hand-winding, date window, anti-shock balance

Notes: very rare model! Found at a flea market in very bad conditions and partially restored by me. Bezel and dial are not original. The bracelet can't be replaced (is fixed to the case).

DSC00274.JPG (61594 byte)

Model: Generalskie Red Star and Wheat ear

Producer/City: Chistopolsky Watch Factory "Vostok" - Chistopol

Year: late '80s

Caliber: 2414, 17 jewels, hand-winding, date window, anti-shock balance

Notes: the design of this case reminds the shape of a star. The most pleasant version among the Vostoks with this case.

RAKETA

DSC00242.JPG (57556 byte)

Model: Perpetual Calendar

Producer/City: Petrodvoretz watch factory "Raketa" - Petrodvoretz

Year: late '80s

Caliber: Raketa 2628-H, 19 jewels, hand-winding, double date

Notes: bought from an Italian seller, gold coloured indexes. The perpetual calendar (a rotating bezel that matches the months/days on the dial) goes from 1980 to 2012, but can be used also for the recent years. One of the most typical Raketa watches.

Dsc00313.jpg (56957 byte)

Model: Perpetual Calendar (export version with calendar in English-white dial)

Producer/City: Petrodvoretz watch factory "Raketa" - Petrodvoretz

Year: late '80s

Caliber: Raketa 2628-H, 19 jewels, hand-winding, double date

Notes: as above, but with white dial. Very clear dial, and very pleasant with this self-built strap ;-)

DSC00556.JPG (57085 byte)

Model: Perpetual Calendar (export version with calendar in English-blue dial)

Producer/City: Petrodvoretz watch factory "Raketa" - Petrodvoretz

Year: 1989

Caliber: Raketa 2628-H, 19 jewels, hand-winding, double date

Notes: as above, but with blue dial. Differently from the others, the watch is NOS and complete with box and document. Also this strap is self-built. ;-)

DSC00257.JPG (55119 byte)

Model: Raketa-Peterhof "Glasnost"

Producer/City: Petrodvoretz watch factory "Raketa" - Petrodvoretz

Year: early '90s

Caliber: Raketa 2609, 19 jewels, hand-winding

Note: typical Raketa with Communist insignia of the very early early '90s. "Peterhof" was a post-Soviet brand of Raketa. BTW: "glasnost" means "transparence" in Russian.

DSC00255.JPG (60641 byte)

Model: Raketa-Peterhof "Perestrojka-Glasnost"

Producer/City: Petrodvoretz watch factory "Raketa" - Petrodvoretz

Year: early '90s

Caliber: Raketa 2609, 19 jewels, hand-winding

Note: "perestrojka" and "glasnost" on the dial are written in English and Russian. I like very much this model.

DSC00239.JPG (54552 byte)

Model: Raketa "Perestrojka"

Producer/City: Petrodvoretz watch factory "Raketa" - Petrodvoretz

Year: early '90s

Caliber: Raketa 2609, 19 jewels, hand-winding

Note: another "perestrojka" watch, the letters of "perestrojka" encircles the dial (quite rough abouth graphics). The flexi band is from a Vostok.

DSC00256.JPG (58685 byte)

Model: Raketa with simple "marmorized" dial

Producer/City: Petrodvoretz watch factory "Raketa" - Petrodvoretz

Year: early '90s

Caliber: Raketa 2609, 19 jewels, hand-winding

Note: very pleasant and readable dial, without unuseful inscriptions.... ;-)

rDsc00243.jpg (63569 byte)

Model: "Offizierskie" 24H

Producer/City: Petrodvoretz watch factory "Raketa" - Petrodvoretz

Year: early '90s

Caliber: Raketa 2623-H, 19 jewels, hand-winding, 24H indication

Note: the Raketa 24H watches are among the most typical Russian watches. The hour hand makes only one rotation in one day instead of two. A way to read the time derived from special purposes.

DSC00223.JPG (52843 byte)

Model: Simple square case with roman numbers

Producer/City: Petrodvoretz watch factory "Raketa" - Petrodvoretz

Year: early '90s

Caliber: Raketa 2609, 19 jewels, hand-winding, date window

Note: bought at the flea market in Bari, very simple, quite rough finish....but this self-built strap improves the look (i have obtained it from a pants belt! :-)

MOLNIJA

Dsc00322.jpg (90074 byte)

Model: "Medal Of The Victory"

Producer/City: Chelyabinsk Watch Factory "Molnija" - Chelyabinsk

Year: early '90s

Caliber: Molnija 3602, 18 jewels, hand winding, little seconds subdial

Note: this shows the symbol of one of the highest Soviet decorations. The dial is in metal, chromed and decorated; the caseback celebrates the old patriotic war (1941-1945).

Dsc00323.jpg (91296 byte)

Model: "Ministry Of the Internal Affairs" (MVD)

Producer/City: Chelyabinsk Watch Factory "Molnija" - Chelyabinsk

Year: 2002

Caliber: Molnija 3602, 15 jewels (gold-coloured version), hand winding, little seconds subdial

Note: this watch has a recent, simpler version of the caliber 3602, with only 15 jewels (the remaining 3 jewels are replaced by metallic bearings) and a quite rough gold-coloured finish, lessa accurate than the previous version. Dial is white (plastic).

Dsc00326.jpg (64646 byte)

Model: "Russian railways"

Producer/City: Chelyabinsk Watch Factory "Molnija" - Chelyabinsk

Year: early '90s

Caliber: Molnija 3602, 18 jewels, hand winding, little seconds subdial

Note: the classic watch of the Soviet railways. There is a train engraved on the caseback; no metallic cover on the glass. One of the most typical Russian watches.

Dsc00403.jpg (71866 byte)

Model: Self-built wristwatch with Molnija pocket watch movement

Producer/City: Michele Cuoccio, Bari (Italy)! :-))

Year: 2004

Caliber: Molnija 3602, 18 jewels, hand winding, little seconds subdial

Note: i fitted a Molnija pocket watch movement into a Panerai-style case. Hands, crown and dial are the sames of the pocket watch; the glass was rotated to match the magnifier lens (originally for a date window) with the seconds subdial. The caseback is see-thru type. A very nice self-built watch. :-)

Others (Slava, Pobeda-ZIM, Elektronika, etc.)

Dsc00308.jpg (49821 byte)

Model: Slava "Wind Rose"

Producer/City: Second Moscow Watch Fatory "Slava" - Moscow

Year: late '90s

Caliber: Slava 2428, 21 jewels, hand winding, double date with quick setting button, double mainspring movement

Note: the most pleasant of the Slava watches (usually they are quite ugly...) :-))  Nice and clear dial.

Dsc00311.jpg (52675 byte)

Model: Slava "Gorbatchev"

Producer/City: Second Moscow Watch Fatory "Slava" - Moscow

Year: early '90s

Caliber: Slava 2414, 21 jewels, hand winding, date window, double mainspring movement

Note: another watch for Perestrojka's nostalgics...BTW: the inscriptions says "first president" because the "president" denomination for the USSR's chief was introduced only in 1990. Therefore, Gorby was the first...and last at the same time.

Dsc00310.jpg (58459 byte)

Model: Slava "CCCP"

Producer/City: Second Moscow Watch Fatory "Slava" - Moscow

Year: late '80s

Caliber: Slava S-2356, 8 jewels, quartz

Note: one of the few (and last) totally-Soviet quartz movement. Today, the Russian quartz watches (except the "Luch" produced in Belarus) have Japanese movements.

Dsc00317.jpg (58721 byte)

Model: Pobeda-ZIM

Producer/City: Maslennikov Factory (ZIM) - Samara

Year: 1977

Caliber: ZIM 2609, 15 jewels, little seconds subdial

Note: bought by my father at the flea market in Bari in the 1993. The movement is a replica of the 1MWF-Pobeda of the years '50s. Nice dial, ultra-cheap substance, but works perfectly.

Dsc00315.jpg (51044 byte)

Model: Pobeda-ZIM "Tupolev TU-154 Bashkir Airlines"

Producer/City: Maslennikov Factory (ZIM) - Samara

Year: 1993

Caliber: ZIM 2609, 15 jewels, little seconds subdial

Note: NOS with box and document, always very cheap substance, but also in this case is a good watch.

Dsc00306.jpg (53763 byte)

Model: Gruen "Soviet"

Producer/City: Gruen Watches USA

Year: late '80s

Caliber: Raketa R-2356, 8 jewels, quartz

Note: American brand, probably Chinese dial and case, only the movement is Russian. But it deserves a place in this collection ;-) Very nice example of "canteen crown" watch. The case is simply painted, no PVD coating. The movement is substantially the same of the Slava "CCCP".

Dsc00303.jpg (52845 byte)

Model: Gruen "Soviet" (grey case)

Producer/City: Gruen Watches USA

Year: late '80s

Caliber: Raketa R-2356, 8 jewels, quartz

Note: this version with grey case and brown strap is particularly pleasant in my opinion! :-)  On both the watches, the upper part of the strap has a little "pocket" to place the end of the lower part. And, as on the previous watch, the indices are luminous, but the hands aren't (quite strange feature).

DSC00398.JPG (72296 byte)

Model: Luch Perpetual Calendar

Producer/City: Luch Watch Plant, Minsk (Belarus)

Year: 2004

Caliber: Luch 2350, 8 jewels, quartz, double date with quick setting

Note: this watch is apparently similar to the Raketa perpetual calendar, but indeed it's inspired to the Orient Multi-Calendar of the years '70s.  The calendar (in Cyrillic) is until the year 2023. A very big and eye-catching watch (the green dial is very nice). The strap was built by me with a pants belt. :-)

Dsc00319.jpg (48866 byte)

Model: Elektronika-5.202

Producer/City: Integral-Elektronika Watch Factory, Minsk

Year: late '70s/early '80s

Module: 30350, quartz; time, month, day of the week and of the month

Note: a rare example of Soviet LCD watch. Very thick and big, it works with two huge batteries! The factory produced also the electronic instruments of the Russian space ships. Very interesting item. The strap is self-built.

Dsc00573r.jpg (54216 byte)

Model: Elektronika-5.204

Producer/City: Integral-Elektronika Watch Factory, Minsk

Year: 1987

Module: 8304, quartz; time, month, day of the month, internal light

Note: another rare example of Soviet digital watch, lighter than the previous and also more modern (only one battery.... :-)) , but less nice IMHO and of quite cheap substance. Unfortunately the glass is cracked, and it can't be replaced with a generic one. :-(

DSC00235.JPG (17217 byte)

Model: "Agat" stopwatch

Producer/City: Zlatoustovsky Watch Factory, Zlatoust

Year: 1983

Caliber: 3965, 16 jewels

Note: a very simple and classic Russian stopwatch, bought at the flea market with box and document. Very noisy ticking, it's beautiful as collector item...i didn't yet used to measure the time of a run! :-)
